Liverpool have a number of quality young players coming through, and one of them, Jarell Quansah, was in action against Manchester City at Anfield on Sunday.

Jurgen Klopp’s Liverpool played out a 1-1 draw with Pep Guardiola’s Manchester City at Anfield in the Premier League on Sunday.

With Ibrahima Konate out injured, Jarell Quansah started alongside Virgil van Dijk in the Liverpool defence.

And, as you can see below, former Chelsea and Everton winger Pat Nevin was impressed by how good Quansah was against defending champions City.

The BBC Sport pundit has noted that the 21-year-old centre-back is growing as a player and was impressed by the youngster trying to score a goal in the second half.

Praise for Liverpool defender Jarell Quansah vs Manchester City

Quansah tested City goalkeeper Stefan Ortega with a late effort and was also a rock at the back for Liverpool.

The defender looked at home playing against a team like City and did not get fazed at the prospect of stopping their world-class players.

Nevin said about Quansah on BBC Radio 5 Live (5:25 pm, March 10, 2024): “Quansah is growing and growing and growing as a player. In that instance, he sees a gap and gets it on target. Once again, Liverpool are applying the pressure.”

My View: Jarell Quansah is a Liverpool gem

In my opinion, Liverpool central defender Jarell Quansah is a gem of a player and could become a star for the Reds in the coming years.

Quansah is just starting his career, and I think that he is doing well at the moment. He is growing as a player and is looking at home playing for the Liverpool first team.

Playing well against Manchester City at Anfield will have boosted his confidence, and I think that we will see the 21-year-old play even better in the coming weeks.

Quansah has made six starts and three substitute appearances in the Premier League for Liverpool this season.

The youngster also gave three goals in five Carabao Cup matches and has scored one goal in six UEFA Europa League games for Liverpool this season.
