Ange Postecoglou’s Tottenham Hotspur have enhanced their chances of finishing in the top four of the Premier League table this season with a win against Aston Villa at Villa Park.

Tottenham Hotspur got the better of Aston Villa 4-0 away from home at Villa Park in the Premier League on Sunday afternoon.

Spurs scored two goals in quick succession in the opening minutes of the second half before Villa midfielder John McGinn was sent off.

Tottenham found the back of the net twice again in injury time to pick up all three points from the encounter.

Praise for Tottenham Hotspur defender Cristian Romero vs Aston Villa

Graham Roberts was following the match, and the former Tottenham player was hugely impressed by the display produced by Cristian Romero.

As you can see below, Roberts has noted that Tottenham and Argentina international defender Romero was class against Villa.

The pundit has also named the other Tottenham players who were very good against Villa.

In the build-up to the game, former Villa striker and talkSPORT pundit Gabriel Agbonlahor warned Romero against losing his cool and getting sent off. After all, the £42 million (Sky Sports) defender has a history of making reckless challenges.

Interestingly, it was one of Villa’s players, McGinn, who was shown a straight red card for a bad challenge.

Against Villa, Romero was very good, especially in the second half. He is a leader at the back, and he showed that against Villa with a very composed and professional display in defence.

Top-four boost for Tottenham Hotspur

Tottenham are now in a very good position to finish in the top four of the Premier League table this season.

Ange Postecoglou’s side are fifth now. The North London club have picked up 53 points from 27 games.

Villa are fourth with 55 points, but the Villans have played 28 games. Tottenham have an advantage.

Tottenham will next face Fulham away from home at Craven Cottage in the Premier League next weekend.

As for Villa, they will take on Ajax in the UEFA Europa League on Thursday before facing West Ham United at London Stadium in the Premier League next weekend.
