Jurgen Klopp will face Pep Guardiola for the last time as the managers of two Premier League clubs so here is the Liverpool and Manchester City boss’ head-to-head record.
The Reds welcome the Citizens to Anfield on Sunday for a top-of-the-table top-flight tussle. Just a point currently splits Liverpool at the summit from the reigning three-time champions Manchester City. Arsenal are also in third place, a point shy of the Citizens, after 27 matches.
But Sunday’s game also marks the final time that Klopp and Guardiola will stand in opposing Premier League dugouts. The Anfield boss confirmed in January that he will leave their helm at the end of the 2023/24 season after eight and a half years. He had a contract for 2025/26.

Jurgen Klopp will face Pep Guardiola for the final time as Premier League managers
Klopp replaced Brendan Rodgers as the manager of Liverpool back in October 2015 and has since transformed the Merseyside club. The German secured the Reds’ first top-flight title in 30 years in 2019/20. He has lifted the Champions League, EFL Cup and FA Cup yet, as well.
Liverpool might yet add another Premier League and FA Cup title, plus a first Europa League crown, to Klopp’s trophy cabinet this term. The Reds visit Manchester United in their FA Cup quarter-final on March 17. Manchester City meet Newcastle United in the Cup on March 16.

It is possible, then, that Klopp and Guardiola will meet again this season before the German leaves Liverpool. But, with Sunday’s meeting marking their final Premier League encounter, here is Liverpool boss Klopp and Manchester City coach Guardiola’s head-to-head record…
Jurgen Klopp’s head-to-head record vs Pep Guardiola
Klopp has faced Guardiola more often than any other manager in the 56-year-old’s career so far. The Liverpool and Manchester City tacticians have met 29 times since first clashing back in July 2013. Klopp and Guardiola were in charge of Borussia Dortmund and Bayern Munich.
BVB beat Der FCB 4-2 in the DFL-Supercup thanks to a Marco Reus brace and an effort from Ilkay Gundogan. Arjen Robben scored Bayern’s two goals at the Westfalenstadion. But Klopp would get his head-to-head record with Guardiola off to a winning start almost 11 years ago.

Klopp also got his head-to-head record against Guardiola as the manager of Liverpool off to a winning start in December 2016. Georginio Wijnaldum headed home Adam Lallana’s cross in the eighth minute at Anfield to see Klopp claim a 1-0 win over Guardiola’s Citizens squad.
Meetings between Klopp and Guardiola – who quit Bayern Munich to take over Manchester City in July 2016 – have since returned an even record. Of their 29 meetings so far, Liverpool boss Klopp has beaten his legendary nemesis 12 times, suffered 11 defeats and drawn since.
