The race to bring Roony Bardghji to the Premier League is heating up with Aston Villa, Newcastle, Tottenham Hotspur and Manchester United pushing hardest to win a £20 million battle.
EXCLUSIVE from Graeme Bailey
HITC Football understands that, ahead of Copenhagen’s Champions League last-16 second-leg tie with Manchester City, the highly-rated teenager is emerging as one of the most coveted young players on the market.
Talks are ongoing – via intermediaries – with a number of clubs.
HITC have also been informed that Aston Villa, Newcastle, Tottenham and Manchester United are the four clubs who have been pushing hardest in recent weeks, as the race to sign the £20 million-rated Roony Bardghji ramps up.

Roony Bardghji a man in demand in the Premier League
Born in Kuwait but capped by Sweden at Under-21 level, Bardghji is currently. the 11-goal top scorer of the reigning Danish champions. One of those 11 goals helped knock suitors Man United out of the Champions League before Christmas. Roony slamming in a finish his near-namesake would have been proud off against Erik ten Hag’s beleaguered side.
Interestingly, Bardghji appeared to open the door to Tottenham a few weeks ago. Spurs have made a habit of snapping up the game’s most exciting up-and-comers from under the noses of genuine European giants, and the 18-year-old appears intrigued by the prospect of following compatriot and one-time Barcelona target Lucas Bergvall in North London.
Bergvall, an £8.5 million signing from Djurgardens, is expected to be part of Tottenham’s first-team squad in 2023/24.
Spurs have already won Lucas Bergvall race
“It’s fun to think about,” the Copenhagen whizzkid tells SportBladet when asked about the prospect of joining Bergvall and also Dejan Kulusevski.
“You never know, it could happen. Hard to say now.”
Bardghji idolises Lionel Messi, and tends to drift in from the right onto his left foot like the Argentina legend. He has admirers at two other clubs who pride themselves on signing high-potential talent with a colossal upside; Newcastle and Aston Villa.
“He’s got a name already. He seems accustomed to that. He doesn’t seem fazed at all,” Manchester United icon Rio Ferdinand tells TNT Sport, having watched Bardghji closely in Europe of late.
“Whenever I’ve seen him, he comes on, he looks like he should be there. He wants to be there. He’s got the ability. I think he’s going to be a name we’re going to hear more about.”
Man City host Copenhagen at the Etihad on Wednesday looking to protect a 3-1 lead from the first leg.
