Paul Merson has shared his honest opinion on Manchester United and England international forward Marcus Rashford.
The former Arsenal star and Sky Sports pundit has noted that Rashford has a lot of ability, but he wants the forward to start working hard.
Merson made the comments about Rashford ahead of the Manchester derby between Manchester City and Manchester United at the Etihad Stadium on Sunday afternoon.
Marcus Rashford is very likely to start for Erik ten Hag’s side, probably in a central striker’s role.
The 26-year-old forward has been hitting the headlines for United in the build-up to the Manchester derby.

Rashford has scored only five goals and provided just two assists in 25 Premier League appearances for United this season.
Last season, the forward scored 17 goals and gave five assists in the Premier League. Rashford scored 30 goals and provided 11 assists in all competitions in 2022-23.
Paul Merson comments on Manchester United forward Marcus Rashford
Merson said about Rashford on Sky Sports News (1:36 pm, March 2, 2024): “He is the only one who knows that, he is the only one.
“I don’t know what goes on within, you know, I don’t know the kid, but people say, is this the end of his career, but wherever you go, they have got to take their head with you, whether you go to PSG or Real Madrid. It’s all you.
“He needs to get back to working hard. He is a top player. You don’t get lucky scoring 30 goals. You just don’t get lucky. That’s not luck.
“That’s unbelievable ability at the highest level. Now, where has that gone this season? It is up to him to answer that.”
My View: Marcus Rashford needs to step up his game
In my opinion, Manchester United forward Marcus Rashford has to step up his game and start delivering for the Red Devils.
Rashford is 26 now. He is not a young player anymore. Given the potential that he has and the promise that he showed in his earlier years, we expect a lot from him.
I do not think that Rashford has progressed as much as he was expected to. But, there is still time. After all, he is only 26 now. His best years are ahead of him.
