Everton’s Mason Holgate could leave Goodison Park on deadline day with Stuttgart and Premier League strugglers Sheffield United looking to sign the versatile defender.
EXCLUSIVE from Graeme Bailey
HITC Football understands that, after a disappointing spell at Southampton during the first half of the current campaign, the long-serving 27-year-old could leave Everton again before the close of play today, before embarking upon another temporary stint away from the blue side of Stanley Park.
Everton’s Mason Holgate is a Sheffield United target
We have been informed that there is interest in Mason Holgate from Chris Wilder’s Sheffield United. The bottom-of-the-table Blades have conceded the most goals in the Premier League (54). United could only benefit, then, from Mason Holgate’s flexibility and experience.

While a centre-half by trade, Holgate has also featured at full-back and even in defensive midfield at times.
HITC has been told that there is also interest in Stuttgart. The Bundesliga high-flyers boosted their Champions League ambitions with a 5-2 thrashing of RB Leipzig last time out. Stuttgart already snapped up Brighton benchwarmer Mahmoud Dahoud too, and are now hot on the heels of another player out of favour at a Premier League outfit.
“We are delighted that Mo Dahoud, a player who will make us even better, has decided to join VfB Stuttgart,” Stuttgart sporting director Fabian Wohlgemuth says of the former Borussia Dortmund playmaker.
“Mo has already proven his enormous quality in the Bundesliga and internationally. We are sure that he will quickly find his feet. (Dahoud) will be a valuable addition to our squad from now on.”
Stuttgart have already signed Mo Dahoud
Holgate has just a year-and-a-half left on his Everton contract. The former England Under-21 international, who joined The Toffees from Barnsley nearly a decade ago, has featured only five times in the Championship with promotion-chasing Southampton.
