When they talk about the ‘transfer merry-go-round’ this is the sort of thing they are referring too. Tottenham Hotspur signed Radu Dragusin, fighting off competition from Bayern Munich and Napoli, while sending Djed Spence to Genoa as part of the deal.
Bayern respond by, somewhat ironically, bringing in the man Dragusin replaced at Spurs. Eric Dier re-uniting with Harry Kane at the Bundesliga champions.
Dier’s subsequent arrival at the Allianz Arena should also bring an end to Bayern’s pursuit of Chelsea defender Trevoh Chalobah, while simultaneously throwing open the doors to the aforementioned Italian champions as well as Fulham.

Fulham plan Chelsea raid for Trevoh Chalobah
HITC Football understands that Fulham, Chelsea’s West London neighbours, have approached Mauricio Pochettino’s side about a deal that would see Chalobah move to Craven Cottage on loan for the remainder of the season.
A couple of weeks earlier in the window, Fulham’s chances may have looked, well, rather slim.
There was interest from Bayern Munich at the time, after all, with a move abroad seemingly more likely for Chalobah than a cross-Premier League switch. The departure of Dier from Tottenham to Bayern has, however, had the probably effect of removing one rather sizeable obstacle from Fulham’s path, even if ongoing interest of Napoli means it is far from a foregone conclusion that the former England under 21 international ends up making the very short trip from one side of West London to another.
Bayern Munich out of the race
Chelsea, HITC has been informed, would prefer an arrangement which boosts their chances of selling Chalobah permanently later down the line. They reportedly wanted £50 million last summer. Fulham, then, may find themselves under pressure to agree to an ‘obligation-to-buy’ clause rather than an optional one.
But, if the interest of Bayern Munich and Napoli does not provide enough proof of Chalobah’s talent and potential, it’s worth remembering that, not so long ago, he was one of the first names on the team sheet during the Thomas Tuchel era at Stamford Bridge, when things were a damn sight more positive than they are right now.
“Fantastic. He gets all the praise and it’s well deserved,” the now-Bayern boss said after Chalobah followed up eye-catching friendly displays against Arsenal and Tottenham – plus an ‘unbelievable’ performance in the UEFA Super Cup – with a goal against Crystal Palace.
“(Chalobah is playing) excellent matches. It’s fantastic these things happen in sports.”
