Arsenal defender Cedric Soares is wanted by Galatasaray and that may just tempt the Gunners into pushing for the signature of Sacha Boey.

We are now over halfway through the January transfer window and Arsenal have been quiet – very quiet.

Dreams of signing Victor Osimhen were just a little too lofty for a January window but seeing Arsenal do nothing is maybe a little surprising.

There could yet be some outgoings though with HITC Football understanding that Cedric Soares is attracting interest.

Galatasaray are understood to be interested in Cedric as they consider potential replacements for star right back Sacha Boey.

Maybe that should open the door to a potential exchange with Arsenal previously holding an interest in signing Boey…

Arsenal given route to Sacha Boey swap deal with Galatasaray keen on Cedric Soares

Boey was a prominent name during the summer transfer window.

The French right back was thought to be a prime target for Arsenal at the end of last season with a deal of around £20million suggested.

Boey ended up staying in Turkey but did confirm that Arsenal wanted to sign him over the summer.

“There were some meetings between Galatasaray administrators and Arsenal officials. There was an interest, but there was no official offer,” said Boey.

Arsenal may now look for another full back and Boey – primarily a right back – does have some history as a left back too, offering versatility to Mikel Arteta’s tactical approach.

Branded ‘amazing’ by former Arsenal right back Bacary Sagna, Boey has impressed in the Champions League this season and seems ready to make the next step in his career at 23.

Galatasaray are already eyeing up Cedric to replace Boey, so why not ask if an exchange can be thrashed out?

Cedric is out of contract at the end of the season, so Arsenal won’t exactly knock much cash off Galatasaray’s asking price.

The interest should spark Arsenal into life though with the idea of offloading Cedric and signing Boey, adding more dynamism to Arsenal’s squad for the second half of the season.

Swap deals are difficult but Arsenal should at least explore such a deal with Boey clearly on the radar and Cedric attracting interest.
