Galatasaray defender Sacha Boey has admitted that Arsenal showed an interest in signing him over the summer.

Arsenal held ‘some meetings’ over a deal to sign Galatasaray right back Sacha Boey over the summer window.

That is according to Boey himself, who has been speaking to CARRÉ in France.

Arsenal were looking at signing a versatile defender over the summer and ended up going for Jurrien Timber.

The Gunners had other options on their radar though with Boey seemingly on Edu’s wish list over the summer.

Arsenal made moves for Galatasaray star Sacha Boey

The Telegraph reported back in May that Arsenal were looking to land French ace Boey from Galatasaray.

A £20million fee was mentioned but no deal was done as Arsenal focused on signing Timber instead.

Boey has now indicated, as quoted by Sport Witness, that he had contact with various clubs over the summer.

Boey claims that Arsenal had ‘some meetings’ with Galatasaray over a deal but no official offer was made.

The 23-year-old also states that he had multiple opportunities to move to the Premier League but it just didn’t happen.

”I had contacts with various clubs,” said Boey. “These clubs also contacted Galatasaray. There were opportunities for me to go to the Premier League.”

“There were some meetings between Galatasaray administrators and Arsenal officials. There was an interest, but there was no official offer,” he added.

Arsenal may still want Boey

Arsenal may not be completely finished with their interest in Boey, with Edu still seemingly keen.

Turkish outlet Fotospor claimed in October that Arsenal had scouted Boey for a potential 2024 move.

Boey impressed against Manchester United last month and Arsenal appearing to still fancy him as they consider landing another defender.

Hailed as ‘amazing’ by former Gunners right back Bacary Sagna, Boey seems ready to make the next step in his career after shining in Turkey.

If the Gunners don’t make a move, it wouldn’t be a surprise t see him turning out for another Premier League club against Arsenal very soon.
