Sources: Bayern Munich agree deal with Tottenham Hotspur for Eric Dier transfer, Thomas Tuchel’s plans for English ace explained

Bayern Munich and Tottenham Hotspur have now agreed a deal which will see Eric Dier move to the Allianz Arena, HITC Football can confirm.

HITC Football revealed talks between Dier and Bayern last week and now sources have confirmed that Bayern have stepped in to finalise a deal worth around €4m (£3.4 million).

Dier’s move to Thomas Tuchel’s Bayern ends a decade-long association with Tottenham Hotspur where he has made plenty of memories including a brilliant debut goal against West Ham United at Upton Park.

Tuchel gets his man for a nominal fee and sources have also confirmed where the former Chelsea boss sees the Englishman in his team.

Dier’s position

Sources have confirmed to HITC Football that Dier will, of course, be used as a centre-back but Tuchel, who is under pressure this season, sees the Englishman as a midfielder, too.

When Dier originally moved to Spurs, he joined the club from Sporting Lisbon as a defender who could fill in further up the pitch and that is something the German may well be keen on doing.

Dier was ousted out of the Spurs team with the addition of the pacey Dutchman Micky van de Ven but the hamstring injury to the former Wolfsburg defender against Chelsea back in November allowed the 29-year-old back into the first-team.

However, with Van de Ven set to return against Manchester United on the weekend, Dier would be back on the bench and understandably a move to the Bundesliga appealed.

Kane’s influence

Another man who, perhaps unsurprisingly, influenced Dier’s decision to move to the Allianz Arena was Harry Kane, who has been on fire for the Bavarian side this season.

We had revealed last week that the talismanic Englishman had played a key part in the defender’s decision to move to the German giants as the pair will now reunite.

Tuchel has also spoken to Dier numerous times about the move to the club sources have confirmed. The deal will be announced shortly once all the relevant paperwork and medical checks are completed.
