The agent of Zenit St Petersburg defender Robert Renan has rubbished reports suggesting that a £23 million move to Premier League outfit West Ham United has been agreed ahead of the January transfer window.
Speculation has hardly been in short supply since Robert Renan moved to Russia from Corinthians nearly 12 months ago, and reports linking him with the a big-money move to England are nothing new.
And you could almost see the frustration and the fatigue leap off the page when Sport24 printed the response of Renan’s agent to this latest bout of rumours, Luis Fernando Garcia once again forced to publicly dismiss the non-truths surrounding his client’s future.

West Ham United’s Robert Renan claims rubbished
Brazilian publication UOL reported earlier in the week that Zenit had ‘agreed’ to sell Renan to West Ham for a fee of £22 million. A report Garcia has wasting little time in rubbishing.
“Renan goes to West Ham?,” Garcia sighs. “This is a lie.”
The 20-year-old Brazil youth star is one of the most highly-rated young defenders in European football. Renan was reportedly a target for Arsenal, Wolves and Manchester City before joining Russian champions Zenit St Petersburg, and has only enhanced his reputation since crossing the Atlantic.
“In terms of football (ability), everything was clear from the first training session,” Zenit team-mate Andrei Mostovoy tells Sport24. “Renan has a great left foot. I think he is a super signing. Yes, he (even) likes to play backheels in the penalty area!
“For a defender, he’s super technical.”
David Moyes eyes defenders
With Burnley’s Jordan Beyer and Stuttgart’s Waldemar Anton linked of late, West Ham could still look to bring in a new defender in the winter window, even if those Renan rumours are wide of the mark.
David Moyes’ backline were shredded by Fulham on Saturday. The Hammers went down 5-0 at the home of their London rivals.
