It was a very disappointing defeat for Eddie Howe and Newcastle United on Sunday, but all credit must go to Tottenham Hotspur.
One common theme about Ange Postecoglou’s side this season has been their style of play, front-foot nature and all-action attacking style.
Led by captain Son Heung-min, he is hoping to lead Tottenham back to the Champions League and he has a fan in Newcastle United winger, Jacob Murphy.
The 28-year-old was absent from Sunday’s game at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium through injury, but he was doing punditry work on the match.
Of course, Jacob Murphy would have been bitterly disappointed at Newcastle’s heavy loss, but he made it clear that Son Heung-min is a ‘really, really good player’ and ‘definitely one of my favourite wingers’, as he told Premier League Productions (10/12/23 at 6:35 pm).
That’s ten Premier League goals for the 31-year-old this season, already matching what he produced last season, which proves that he is now back on track and last season was just a blip – Alan Shearer also shared his thoughts.
It also highlights his quality and ability to lead from the front, especially with Harry Kane leaving this summer.
Jacob Murphy praises Son Heung-min
“He is definitely one of my favourite wingers,” said Murphy. “I have watched many of his clips over time.
“He can go off both feet. Crossing. His finishing is excellent, especially off his weaker side. A really, really good player.”

Tottenham and Newcastle injury issues
Look, during these past few weeks, things haven’t been great for either club. It wasn’t so long ago that Spurs were losing to West Ham United.
Both clubs have had their injury issues and it’s all probably about damage limitations.
The higher up the table Spurs and Newcastle can stay, by the time injured players return and the January transfer window opens, the more dangerous they will become for the second half of the season.
And Spurs fans, after watching their team miss out on European football altogether last time out, will be hoping that a return to Champions League football is back on the cards this term.
