After a run of poor results, Ange Postecoglou’s Tottenham Hotspur were back on the horse after beating Newcastle United 4-1 on Sunday in the Premier League.
For the fifth straight game, Tottenham had suffered a 2-1 defeat to London rivals West Ham United and captain Son Heung-min had labelled it ‘unacceptable’.
Well, in those situations, you want your man with the armband to lead by example and Son Heung-min did that by scoring from the penalty spot and supplying two assists against Eddie Howe’s side.
Newcastle United legend Alan Shearer spoke highly about the 31-year-old and how he is the ‘perfect example’ to all young kids, as he told Premier League Productions (10/12/23 at 6:35 pm).
That strike from the spot by Son Heung-min was his tenth of the Premier League campaign for Tottenham – already matching what he produced during an off-campaign last time out.
That’s another example that the Son of old, who can and has previously hit 20+ Premier League goals, is back and ready to hit those numbers again.
Son Heung-min helps down Newcastle United
“He is an amazing player,” said Shearer. “I think he is the perfect example to any kid who is looking at Premier League players.
“How to do it. How to play it every week. How to give everything every single week. I never see him moaning or complaining. He has got a great attitude and he is a great professional.”

Can Tottenham Hotspur end the year on a high?
This festive period is going to go like crazy now and this is where Spurs, without European football this term, can try to gain some advantage.
It’s out-of-form Nottingham Forest up next for the London club, with Sean Dyche’s Everton and then Europa League side Brighton following suit, before Postecglou’s side end the year against high-flying Bournemouth.
These are a set of matches that can get the club going again and try to push them back into the Champions League places.
That can be a realistic aim for Tottenham, and if the fifth spot opens up for Champions League football, then it increases the club’s chances even more.
