Tottenham Hotspur boss Ange Postecoglou thinks Son Heung-min will want him to sign another striker in order to add competition for places.
Tottenham saw star striker Harry Kane leave the club in August, completing a big-money move to German side Bayern Munich.
Rather than splash the cash on another centre forward, Spurs snapped up versatile attacker Brennan Johnson from Nottingham Forest.
Son Heung-min has stepped up as Tottenham’s striker this season, scoring nine goals in 14 Premier League appearances.
Ange Postecoglou thinks Son Heung-min will want Tottenham to sign another striker
The 31-year-old has been back to his best this season having looked a little off-colour for large parts of last season.
Son does still need some attacking support though with youngster Alejo Veliz probably not quite ready for the Premier League.
Ange Postecoglou has now told Football London that he plans to build around Son for a long time yet.
However, Postecoglou notes that Tottenham may still go and sign another striker – and it’s what Son may actually want to hear.
Postecoglou believes that the best players always want to see more quality signings arrive and that Son is probably not different.
Top players don’t want to feel comfortable, meaning Postecoglou is leaving the door open for a potential striker signing in 2024.
“Very much. Yes. Yeah, he will be a very important part of what we’re building and but that doesn’t mean we wouldn’t sign another striker because I think even Sonny would demand that of me,” said Postecoglou. “If you’re going to build a team that’s going to win things, I’ve always found your best players want more good players in the building.”
“They’re not comfortable, they don’t want to be comfortable. They don’t want to just be sitting there saying, ‘Well, I’m the man’. They want to know that they’re gonna be surrounded by other players who are just as motivated for success, but there’s no doubt that Sonny will be a big part of that,” he added.

Who could Tottenham sign in attack?
Tottenham may not have a huge budget to play with in January but they are still being linked with strikers.
Reports just a few days ago suggested that Tottenham had been offered the chance to sign Stuttgart forward Serhou Guirassy.
The Guinean forward has been in blistering form this season and is understood to have a release clause of around £17million.
Guirassy may fit the bill for Tottenham given the money involved but there are others in the mix too.
Feyenoord hitman Santiago Gimenez continues to be targeted after transfer meetings were held at Tottenham towards the end of November.
The Mexican would be much more expensive than Guirassy but more of a long-term option at just 22.
Tottenham have targets in mind and Postecoglou seemingly believes that Son will approve such a signing – even if it cuts into his playing time a little.
