When Harry Kane left Tottenham Hotspur in the summer, it was a body blow to the team and the whole club.

But new boss Ange Postecoglou had no time to feel sorry for himself or anybody else because he had a Tottenham side to prepare for the new season.

With Harry Kane out of the door and Hugo Lloris also out of the picture, it called for a new captain at Spurs with Ange Postecoglou handing that to Son Heung-min.

According to Glenn Hoddle, Son Heung-min is ‘loving’ the fact that he is donning the club’s armband and now playing the best football of his career, as he told Premier League Productions (03/12/23 at 1:15 pm).

Last season, after previously winning the Premier League’s Golden Boot, the man signed by Mauricio Pochettino in 2015, had a campaign to forget scoring only ten goals.

But that has now flipped on its head, as it could be argued that he is at the heart of the team because he is now the main centre-forward – Roy Keane also shared his thoughts on the South Korean star.

As a result, Son Heung-min has nine goals and two assists from 14 matches, with Spurs sitting fifth in the table after their 3-3 draw at Manchester City.

Son Heung-min’s form for Tottenham

“I think he is loving the fact that he is captain,” said Hoddle. “I think he is a different type of captain. It’s difficult to be a frontman and a captain. To be the hub of the team and organising.

“But leading by example, yes. If it wasn’t for inches against Aston Villa last week, then he would have had a hat-trick.

“He is playing down the middle, which I think he is enjoying – sometimes, you get that extra responsibility and your form goes out of the window. He is playing as good as he has ever played.

“I think he needs people around him to give him the deliveries and the options.”

Can Son Heung-min push Erling Haaland?

The Manchester City Treble-winner is not just the striker in the Premier League, but world football also.

Erling Haaland dismantled everyone that came his way last season and it seems as though he is running away with it again.

The Norway star has 14 from 14 this season, and with Kane out of the door, who can challenge him?

Well, Son has previous and is five goals behind him, with Mohamed Salah on ten given his form for Liverpool.
