Kevin Nolan has dismissed the suggestion that Harry Kane made a mistake leaving Tottenham Hotspur for Bayern Munich.

The West Ham United coach pointed out that Harry Kane left Spurs to ‘achieve things’ and ‘win trophies’, as he thinks he can still do that at Bayern Munich, as he told talkSPORT.

Prior to Harry Kane heading for the exit door, he had 12 months left to run on his contract, so the powers that be at Hotspur Way had a call to make.

Days before the new Premier League season started, they decided to sell their star striker to the annoyance, frustration and anger of the supporters.

Many thought that this would put Ange Postecoglou on the back foot, yet, fast forward to the present and it has probably made them a better team.

Given that Tottenham are now sitting top of the Premier League table, Kevin Nolan asked whether it was now a mistake that Kane left.

Should Harry Kane have left Spurs?

On whether Kane has made a mistake leaving Spurs: “No, no, I am not too sure he has,” said Nolan. “I think he wanted to go, achieve things and win trophies.

“You couldn’t have predicted the start Ange has produced and done at Tottenham. No, I don’t think so.

On if Spurs would win the title now with Kane: “He is going to produce goals which they probably have been looking for with all the dominance of what they have had. He probably would have scored a few more than they have.”

Premier League title challenge for Spurs?

That has been the talk during this past week, as Postecoglou’s side have answered many critics, with strong performances against the likes of Liverpool and Arsenal.

Yes, Spurs are sitting top of the tree after eight Premier League games, but there needs to be a sense of realism here.

They will only truly be in a title challenge post-January, if they are in and around it at that time, then talk of whether Kane regrets leaving should be ignited, along with the club’s title challenge.
