Arsenal target Ivan Toney cannot believe how much the Gunners would have to pay for him in the January transfer window.

That is according to 90min, which has claimed interest in the Brentford striker from Chelsea as well.

So, what is being reported about Arsenal and Brentford striker Ivan Toney? Let’s take a look.

What’s the story?

Well, according to 90min, Arsenal are interested in signing Ivan Toney from Brentford in the January transfer window.

Chelsea are also interested in Toney. The striker himself wants to leave Brentford in the January transfer window.

The report has claimed that both Arsenal and Chelsea have held talks with Toney’s representatives.

Brentford are willing to sell Toney, but they want £80 million for him. According to 90min, this figure has “shocked the striker”.

90min has added that Brentford are willing to hand Toney a new contract with a release clause. The Englishman is open to such a deal, but he wants the buy-out clause to be “reasonable”.

Arsenal should not pay £80 million for Ivan Toney

In my opinion, Arsenal should not pay £80 million for Brentford striker Ivan Toney in the January transfer window.

I do not think that Toney is worth £80 million. Yes, he has done well for Brentford and has proven himself in the Premier League, but he does not have the European pedigree.

Like Lautaro Martinez of Inter Milan has. Juventus striker Dusan Vlahovic has also done well in European competitions.

Of course, Arsenal’s main objective this season is to win the Premier League title. And we know that Toney has been very good in the English top flight.

The 27-year-old has scored 32 goals and given nine assists in 68 appearances in the Premier League so far in his career.

However, I believe that Arsenal need to think of making an impact in Europe as well, and for that, they need someone who knows the UEFA Champions League inside out.
