Tottenham Hotspur talent Alfie Devine claims Ange Postecoglou is watching his progress at Port Vale very closely.

Ange Postecoglou is watching Alfie Devine as the Tottenham Hotspur prospect continues to shine on loan at Port Vale.

Loan experiences are so important for young players; just look at how Harry Kane became a star after his loan spells away from Tottenham.

That’s how Tottenham youngsters should be viewing loan spells away from the club and Devine seems to be taking it in his stride.

Tottenham talent Alfie Devine comments on Ange Postecoglou

Devine is spending the season with League One side Port Vale and has become something of a hero.

Devine scored the only goal of the game as Port Vale beat Mansfield Town 1-0 in the Carabao Cup on Tuesday night.

Port Vale are now into the quarter-finals and will now host Middlesbrough for a semi-final place.

This cup run has been incredible for Port Vale and Devine has played a vital role.

Devine has now spoken on BBC’s Football Daily and was asked about his situation with Tottenham.

Devine noted that he has been in contact with Tottenham staff and believes that boss Ange Postecoglou is watching him closely.

The former Wigan Athletic talent is keeping his head down at Port Vale but will no doubt be looking to catch Postecoglou’s eye.

“I spoke to a few staff at Tottenham, I know Ange is keeping a lookout on how I’m doing and stuff, but I just take every game as it comes and then see what happens from there, but I’m loving my time at the moment,” said Devine.

Devine shining for Port Vale

Tottenham need Devine to be picking up first-team minutes and that is certainly happening at Port Vale.

Devine has now turned out 14 times for the Valiants, bagging three goals and two assists in the process.

That’s a solid record for the 19-year-old, who has predominantly played as an attacking midfielder in a 3-4-2-1 at Port Vale.

Devine will be hoping to prove to Postecoglou that he can offer support to James Maddison moving forward, but the teenager has a long way to go yet.

Jose Mourinho has already been impressed with Devine, telling him in 2021 that his style of play was reminiscent of Bruno Fernandes.

That was lofty praise but Devine has bags of talent and he is surely impressing Postecoglou too.
