Dharmesh Sheth says David Moyes’s West Ham United have made Ajax ‘aware’ that they want to sign Chelsea, Brighton and Arsenal transfer target, Mohammed Kudus.
After losing Declan Rice for a club-record transfer, the West Ham fans got even bad news that Lucas Paqueta could follow suit this summer – Manchester City are knocking.
In the wake of the Brazil international possibly leaving, Mohammed Kudus has been lined up by the Europa Conference League winners, with Sky reporter Sheth adding that they have ‘held initial talks’, as he told The Transfer Show on Sky Sports (15/08/23 at 6:10 pm).
Of course, losing both Rice and Paqueta is a body blow to the fans and Moyes in trying to take the club forward.
But being able to secure the talents of someone like Kudus would be a serious statement of intent by the Europa League side.
Unlike when West Ham sold Rice, they are ready to be pro-active in the scenario of Paqueta leaving, as transfer expert Sheth explained.

“The other clues that we look for when we look at transfers like this (Paqueta to Man City) is what the potential selling club is doing,” said Sheth. “Are they looking at life after Lucas Paqueta? It appears that they might be.
“They have held initial talks with Ajax over Mohammed Kudus, who has been hosting a whole host of Premier League clubs in this summer’s transfer window, not least Brighton, even Chelsea and Arsenal were thought to be interested.
“They are looking at Kudus. They have held initial talks, but it is one of those, they have made Ajax aware of the interest.
“They are going to see what happens with Paqueta, if that starts accelerating, then I am sure the Kudus one will start accelerating as well.”

Kudus would elevate West Ham
At the 2022 Qatar World Cup, former Netherlands international Nigel de Jong labelled the 23-year-old as a ‘star boy’ and someone who is a ‘top talent’.
A player with great drive, quick feet, and the ability to score goals and produce magic from the middle of the park.
A player like Kudus, alongside the more robust summer signing Edson Alvarez and reliable James Ward-Prowse, would cook and entertain the crowd at the London Stadium.
