Mauricio Pochettino’s Chelsea are now reportedly trying to sign Crystal Palace star Michael Olise, and this will come as a blow for Mikel Arteta’s Arsenal.

90min reported on July 30 that Arsenal and Chelsea are among the clubs who are keen on signing Michael Olise from London and Premier League rivals Crystal Palace in the summer transfer window.

The report claimed interest from Manchester City, who won the Premier League, the FA Cup and the UEFA Champions League last season, in Olise as well.

However, it seems that Chelsea could beat Arsenal and City to the signing of the 21-year-old, who can operate as an attacking midfielder or as a winger.

The London Evening Standard is reporting today that Chelsea are close to agreeing personal terms with Olise, who was described as “outrageous” by Crystal Palace central midfielder Will Hughes, as relayed by Wrexham goalkeeper Ben Foster on his YouTube channel in August 2022.

The report is claiming that the Blues hope to secure a deal with Palace for the winger worth around £45 million.

Chelsea pursuit of Michael Olise blow for Arsenal

Chelsea are being very active in the pursuit of their transfer targets.

The London Evening Standard has reported that Brighton and Hove Albion midfielder Moises Caicedo is about to undergo a medical at Chelsea.

Chelsea are also in advanced talks over a £55 million move for Southampton midfielder Romeo Lavia, according to the same report.

That the Blues are now actively trying to sign Olise will come as a blow for Arsenal.

While Arsenal do not need to sign a new attacking player, there is no doubt that Olise would be a very good option to have for manager Mikel Arteta.

And he is only 21.

The France Under-21 international has a lot of potential and will only get better in the coming years.

However, it is hard to see the Gunners match Chelsea’s terms.

There is no way that Arsenal would be willing to pay £45 million for a 21-year-old who may not even get into the Gunners’ starting lineup.

Olise has made 63 appearances in the Premier League so far in his career.

The winger has scored four goals and given 16 assists in those matches.
