Tottenham Hotspur are set to miss out on one potential Harry Kane replacement with Fabrizio Romano reporting that the Premier League-linked Arthur Cabral is joining Benfica for up to £22 million.
Speaking to talkSPORT on Tuesday morning, esteemed reporter Constantin Eckner rated the chances of Harry Kane leaving Tottenham Hotspur for Bayern Munich before September’s deadline at ‘50/50’.
Just one week ago, Eckner was 60 per cent certain that the England international would be filling a Robert Lewandowski-shaped hole at the Allianz Arena.
Bayern, since then, have seen a third bid rejected by Daniel Levy after holding further talks in London last week (The Athletic). And Eckner is not the only one losing faith in Spurs’ willingness to cash in on a player who, despite being reluctant to extend a contract which expires in 2024, looks increasingly likely to be leading the line for Ange Postecoglou beyond next month.

Arthur Cabral will not replace Harry Kane at Tottenham
Kane staying, even for one more season, should offset the disappointment at missing out on a potential long-term replacement. Tottenham, according to the Daily Mail, had ‘asked about’ Fiorentina’s Arthur Cabral, alongside the prolific Gent marksman Gift Orban.
Brazilian Cabral scored 17 goals in 2022/23. That includes an impressive tally of eight in 16 Conference League games, the former Basel talisman firing La Viola into a final vs West Ham United.
According to Fabrizio Romano, however, Cabral will not replace Harry Kane, but Goncalo Ramos instead. The Benfica talisman is on his way to Paris Saint-Germain, and Cabral appears to have been earmarked as his successor.
“Benfica to sign Arthur Cabral as new striker, here we go!,” Romano writes. “Deal agreed on a 20 million euro fixed fee, plus 5 million euros in add-ons with Fiorentina.
“Personal terms agreed, medical tests will take place later this week.”

Tottenham do appear to be on the verge of a striker signing of their own. Though 19-year-old Alejo Veliz will arrive from Rosario Central to learn from Kane rather than to replace him.
“I’m just waiting to sign my contract with Spurs, it’s imminent,” the Argentina U20 poacher tells ESPN. “I will say goodbye to the (Rosario) fans with formal message.
“I spoke with (Tottenham ace) Gio Lo Celso. And he told me that I will have his support.”
