Dan Ndoye is reportedly turning down a move to the Premier League with Everton after Bologna agreed a £9.5 million deal to bring the Basel forward to Serie A instead.

The transfer market giveth, the transfer market taketh away for Sean Dyche.

While reports suggest that Everton are on the verge of confirming the arrival of Sporting Lisbon striker Youssef Chermiti – the Portugal U19 international reportedly jetted out to Liverpool on Monday and should put pen to paper at Goodison Park imminently – it seems that Dan Ndoye is not quite so enthusiastic about pulling on that iconic deep blue shirt.

Everton miss out on Serie A-bound Dan Ndoye

According to the uber-reliable Gianluca di Marzio, speaking to Tuttomercatoweb, Bologna have agreed a deal worth up to £9.5 million with Swiss giants Basel.

Ndoye is keen on the idea of working with former PSG and Barcelona playmaker Thiago Motta; one of the most ambitious and exciting young coaches in Europe. Everton, Di Marzio adds, had attempted to hi-jack Bologna’s Ndoye deal at the eleventh hour but to no avail.

The one-time Switzerland international reportedly believes that it is too soon to join a club in the Premier League, feeling that a spell in Serie A would be better for his development.

The rangy right-winger scored seven goals and set up five more for Basel in 2022/23. Ndoye, who moved to St Jakob’s Park from Nice, was also included in the UEFA Conference League Team of the Season, Basel missing out on a place in the final after losing to Fiorentina in the last-four

Basel have already lost Zeki Amdouni to Burnley this summer

Everton, meanwhile, are keen to add further reinforcements to a frontline which has continued to toil throughout pre-season. The Sun’s Alan Nixon believes that Patson Daka is an option. That is despite two largely underwhelming Premier League campaigns at Leicester City.
