Bristol City playmaker Alex Scott was left impressed by Dane Scarlett after he bagged for Tottenham Hotspur during their 5-1 pre-season friendly win over Shakhtar Donetsk on Sunday.

This was Ange Postecoglou’s first unofficial home game in charge and his Tottenham side put on a show, including Harry Kane netting four goals for the team.

They aren’t easy boots to fill, and never will be, but Dane Scarlett came on as a second-half substitute and managed to join the Kane party, with the player being lauded on his Instagram by his fellow professionals, including Alex Scott, James Maddison and Nile John.

The 19-year-old put his effort away in stoppage-time in a way that would have made Kane very proud.

Following an inswinging cross from Dejan Kulusevski, the Spurs teenager had his back to goal, but he took a brilliant first touch, swivelled and fired the ball into the back of the net with his left foot.

It was a moment of pure brilliance from the youngster and a cherry on top of the cake for Spurs as they edge closer to their Premier League opener against Brentford this weekend.

“Beautiful to see,” wrote Bristol City midfielder Alex Scott, who is a Tottenham transfer target, in the comments section of Scarelett’s IG post, with Noah Ohio adding ‘Great strike, Dane’ and Manchester United’s Charlie McNeill applauding him.

Another loan for Dane Scarlett?

The England U20 international spent the previous campaign out on-loan at League One side Portsmouth where he scored four goals from 34 games.

All of this is just part of the young striker’s development and it will be interesting to see if he is loaned out again ahead of the forthcoming campaign.

In truth, he probably needs it, to another League One side, because there is a lot of hope that he can become a star of the future for the London club.
