Saudi Arabia have put in a lot of money this summer with the aim of making their league one of the top ten in the world.

Whether these lofty ambitions will ultimately come off for the Saudi Pro League remains to be seen, but they are certainly giving it a good go.

With many of the top players in the Premier League, La Liga and beyond deciding that the next move in their career is the Saudi League. But just what are the top three signings of this summer’s transfer window for the Saudi side?

3. Sergej Milinkovic-Savic

The Serbian midfielder decided to make the move to the Middle East and join Al-Hilal in the process.

The former Lazio midfielder has been seemingly linked with the Premier League for over five years now, ever since his breakout season in 2017-2018 where he scored 12 goals and provided four assists.

The midfielder joined the Saudi side from Lazio for a fee in the region of €40 million (£35 million), which is not only one of the biggest deals of the summer but also one of the biggest deals in the Saudi Pro League.

The midfielder would add the goals from the deeper position which may well be needed for the Saudi side aiming to win the league title.

2. Riyad Mahrez

The Algerian winger, who is a Premier League icon, decided to make the move to Al-Ahli for around £30 million and will line up in an exciting front three featuring Roberto Firmino and Allan Saint-Maximin.

The winger who joined Manchester City in 2018, has been a sensation under Pep Guardiola and was crucial as City won the treble.

The winger combined technical ability and end product to become one of the league’s most productive players and will no doubt be a hit in the Middle East.

1. Karim Benzema

The French forward made the decision to leave Real Madrid after an extraordinary 14-year period where he won multiple Champions League titles for Los Blancos before he decided to depart.

The Frenchman scored an incredible 354 goals in just 648 appearances for Real Madrid and he will bring his class and popularity to the league.

Maybe only second to Ronaldo, Benzema may well be one of the most popular players in the division and a huge boost to the division.
