Kieran Gibbs has backed Mauricio Pochettino’s Chelsea to sign Brighton and Hove Albion midfielder and Liverpool transfer target Moises Caicedo this summer.
The former Arsenal left-back added that Moises Caicedo has a ‘quite rare’ talent and that’s the ability to go past players from the middle of the park, as he told ESPN.
There are concerns over Caicedo’s age, but Gibbs made it clear that ‘Chelsea can’t get much worse’ than the 21-year-old ahead of the forthcoming Premier League campaign.
As of this moment, those from Stamford Bridge haven’t been successful in trying to lure the hard-hitting midfielder towards their direction – perhaps they are getting a jist of how Arsenal felt in January.
Either way, Chelsea will have to be quick in putting the money Brighton want for their player because there are suggestions that Liverpool also want to sign him.
It was claimed that if Jordan Henderson and Fabinho are sold, then they will go for the Ecuador star, well Henderson has gone and the Brazil star is set to offer suit.

“He is a player that can go past people in the middle of the park,” said Gibbs. “That is quite rare. I think that’s why he is so expensive. He has got legs for days. He covers so much ground.
On concern about Caicedo’s age and lack of experience: “The problem is that players like him don’t come around often. There is a reason why he is so sought-after in the market.
“For me, Chelsea can’t get much worse right now, after last season. Just go for him. He is going to be there for five or six years, at least, if he signs and he is a super-talent.
“Chelsea might have to suck up another season or two at not being at their very best. But you have to take that sometimes in order to get ahead in the later years.”

Caicedo is worth it for Chelsea or Liverpool
Yes, the prices of players are inflated and now hitting crazy, crazy numbers, but teams only have themselves to blame because they are the ones spending that money.
Either Chelsea or Liverpool would have to suck it up regarding Caicedo. Pay the money and then you will have a midfielder that will thrive in your team for many, many years to come.
Or else, do what Chelsea have previously done. Sign that experienced player, such as Romelu Lukaku, and in less than 12 months, you are looking for a replacement. The same with Kalidou Koulibaly, who only lasted one season and is now in Saudi Arabia.
