Spartak Moscow’s sporting director has confirmed his interest in Premier League defender Davinson Sanchez as Tottenham Hotspur accept a £13 million bid from the Russian outfit.

When discussing the future of two Spurs players on Tuesday, Tottenham boss Ange Postecoglou issued a couple of contrasting updates.

Oliver Skipp, he said, was ‘100 per cent’ part of his plans in North London (BBC). But as for Davinson Sanchez, the error-prone centre-half booed by his own supporters during last season’s annus horribilis… well, the fact that he is being allowed to ‘explore his options’ suggests that Tottenham will not exactly stand in his way this summer.

Tottenham could sell Davinson Sanchez to Russia

Spartak Moscow, according to The Standard, have seen a £13 million bid accepted.

Whether Sanchez opts to join a club in the Russian capital during a period of serious political instability remains to be seen, of course, though the Colombian’s representative did suggest earlier in the month that he was up for the idea of kick-starting his career in Moscow.

Spartak director Oleg Malyshev, meanwhile, is keeping his cards close to his chest. Albeit while confirming his interest in a player who set Spurs back a then-club record fee of £42 million when he arrived from Ajax back in 2017.

“I would not like to comment until a final decision is made,” Malyshev tells RB Sport. “We are considering options for strengthening the defence. We are interested in this player. But I won’t tell the details.”

There is also interest from ambitious Galatasaray side in Sanchez. If the 27-year-old was to opt for a move to the Turkish giants instead, he would join fellow Premier League exports Wilfried Zaha, Angelino and Lucas Torreira. Nicolo Zaniolo, Mauro Icardi and the much-admired Sacha Boey too.

Spartak, however, appear to be at the front of the queue as things stand.

“Let’s see how possible the transfer will be when the club contacts us. I can say that Sanchez sees no problem in playing in Russia,” agent Fernando Schena said a fortnight ago.

“Therefore, he can easily go to Spartak.”
