Mauricio Pochettino’s Chelsea are reportedly trying to sign Harry Maguire from Erik ten Hag’s Manchester United.

90min is reporting this afternoon that Chelsea are actively looking to bring Manchester United central defender Harry Maguire to Stamford Bridge in the summer transfer window.

Chelsea have made enquiries about the £200,000-a-week (The Sun) defender’s situation at Old Trafford and are now considering a move.

Wesley Fofana has suffered a cruciate ligament injury and is set for a lengthy spell on the sidelines.

This has forced Chelsea to look for a replacement defender, and Maguire is a player the former Premier League and UEFA Champions League winners are keen on, according to 90min.

The report has claimed that “while Manchester United would prefer to sell Maguire outright, they would also consider letting him go out on loan to Stamford Bridge too as Chelsea have the capacity to cover the player’s wages in full – something other clubs would be unlikely to be able to offer”.

West Ham United, Newcastle United, Inter Milan and Juventus are also interested in the 30-year-old, who has been told by Manchester United manager Erik ten Hag that he is free to leave.

Chelsea could be able to sign Harry Maguire from Manchester United

In our opinion, Chelsea could be able to sign Harry Maguire from Manchester United in the summer transfer window.

First of all, the Red Devils are willing to send the defender to the Blues.

That indicates that Manchester United are okay with Maguire playing for one of their top-four rivals.

Secondly, Maguire himself could find the prospect of playing for Chelsea very appealing.

After all, like the Red Devils, Chelsea are a big club and a global brand.

True, the Blues will not play in the UEFA Champions League, but they have won the Premier League title and become European champions in recent years.
