Manchester United head coach Erik ten Hag has reportedly told Tottenham Hotspur and Newcastle United target Harry Maguire that he should leave.
According to 90min, Manchester United head coach Erik ten Hag has encouraged Harry Maguire to leave in the summer transfer window.
In a meeting with Maguire, Ten Hag told the England international central defender that it would be better for all if he left this summer.
90min has claimed that during the meeting where Ten Hag told the 30-year-old of his decision to strip him of the armband, the £190,000-a-week’s (The Telegraph) “departure” was “not only green-lit, but encouraged”.
Harry Maguire boost for Tottenham Hotspur and Newcastle United
Erik ten Hag personally encouraging Harry Maguire to leave will come as a boost to Tottenham Hotspur and Newcastle United’s chances of signing the Manchester United defender in the summer transfer window.
In June, The Daily Star reported that Tottenham want to sign Maguire.

The report claimed that Spurs striker Kane and Maguire are “good pals having bonded on England duty”, and that the striker has “recommended Maguire to higher-ups on a number of occasions” and wants Tottenham to bring him to Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.
GiveMeSport reported last week interest from West Ham United and Tottenham in the defender.
In June, The Sun reported that Newcastle want to sign Maguire this summer.
If Ten Hag has actively encouraged Maguire to leave, then it is very likely that the former Leicester City defender will now seriously consider parting company with the Red Devils.
After all, the defender is clearly going to struggle for regular playing time at Old Trafford next season.
A move to Tottenham or Newcastle could appeal to Maguire.
Both Spurs and the Magpies want him, which suggests that they will have plans to play him on a regular basis.
