Aston Villa have reportedly received a boost in their quest to sign Weston McKennie from Juventus.
Italian news outlet CM reported last week that Aston Villa are interested in signing former Leeds United loanee Weston McKennie from Juventus in the summer transfer window.
The report noted interest in the USA international midfielder from German club Borussia Dortmund and Turkish giants Galatasaray as well.
Fabrizio Romano is now reporting on Twitter that Juventus have told McKennie that he is not part of their plans for next season.
The Italian journalist has claimed that McKennie will not be part of the Juventus first team for their pre-season tour of the USA.
This will come as a boost to Villa’s chances of signing the midfielder, who spent the second half last season on loan at Leeds from Juventus.
McKennie made 16 starts and three substitute appearances in the Premier League for the West Yorkshire club.
The 24-year-old gave one assist in those games.
Leeds got relegated from the Premier League.
Potential Weston McKennie boost for Aston Villa
If Juventus are willing to sell McKennie in the summer transfer window, then it will enhance Villa’s chances of securing his services.

Now, of course, Juventus will ask for a decent transfer fee for the former Schalke star.
However, it is unlikely to be astronomical.
Villa are a progressive club who are going places under manager Unai Emery.
Under the former Arsenal and Paris Saint-Germain manager, Villa play dynamic and attacking football.
We believe that McKennie would enjoy playing for Emery at Villa.
The chance to join the Villans could be appealing to the USA international, too.
After all, Villa are a big and established club in the Premier League.
McKennie is only 24, and we think that he would develop and improve even further in the coming years.
