Pep Guardiola’s Manchester City will sign Josko Gvardiol, not Jurgen Klopp’s Liverpool, according to a report.
Journalist Dean Jones has told GiveMeSport that RB Leipzig defender Josko Gvardiol will make the move to Manchester City in the summer transfer window, not to Liverpool.
Earlier this month, The Express suggested Gvardiol as a potential target for Liverpool in the summer of 2023.
TEAMtalk reported in March that Liverpool are among the clubs who are keen on signing the 21-year-old Croatia international centre-back in the summer of 2023.
Italian journalist Fabrizio Romano has reported on Twitter that the youngster has agreed personal terms with treble winners City.
Liverpool to miss out on Josko Gvardiol to Manchester City
Jones said: “I think he’s (Micky van de Ven) a lot more likely option than Gvardiol. I don’t think Gvardiol is going to be joining Liverpool this summer.
“If he lands anywhere, then we are expecting that it will probably be Man City.
“But there are other options out there for Liverpool to consider, and I think that this one is certainly one that they’re looking at.”

Potential blow for Liverpool
In our opinion, if Josko Gvardiol made the move to Manchester City in the summer transfer window, then it would be a blow for Liverpool.
City have arguably the best and strongest squad in England.
Under manager Pep Guardiola last season, the Citizens won the Premier League, the FA Cup and the UEFA Champions League.
Signing a player like Gvardiol would only make the Citizens stronger.
Liverpool could not even finish in the top four of the Premier League table last season.
The Reds had defensive issues last season, and a player as talented and good as Gvardiol would have helped the Merseyside club, not just for next season, but for years to come as well.
