Mikel Arteta’s Arsenal reportedly want to sign Southampton midfielder Romeo Lavia to replace Thomas Partey.
Arsenal to bid for Southampton midfielder Romeo Lavia
According to The Mirror, Arsenal are interested in signing Romeo Lavia from Southampton in the summer transfer window.
The report has claimed that Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta believes that the 19-year-old Belgium international defensive midfielder has “huge potential”.
The Gunners want to bring in Lavia as a potential replacement for Thomas Partey.
Clubs in Saudi Arabia as well as Serie A outfit Juventus are keen on the Ghanian defensive midfielder, who could be let go by Arsenal, according to The Mirror.

Good signing for the Arsenal
In our view, Southampton midfielder Romeo Lavia would be a very good signing for Arsenal, not just for now, but for years to come as well.
The teenager did well for the Saints last season and could not be blamed at all for the club getting relegated to the Championship.
Under Arteta, the defensive midfielder could grow and develop as a player and could add facets to his game.
Lavia is rated very highly.
Then Southampton manager Ralph Hasenhuttl described the youngster as “an extremely talented young player”, as quoted on the club’s official website in July 2022.
According to former Manchester City defender and Burnley manager Vincent Kompany in Het Nieuwsblad in September 2021, Lavia is “such a rare player”.
