Barry Ferguson has criticised Tottenham Hotspur fans who do not think that Celtic boss Ange Postecoglou would be a good managerial appointment for Spurs.

The former Rangers star has told The Daily Record that Celtic boss Ange Postecoglou would be brilliant for Tottenham Hotspur.

The pundit made the comments just before the Scottish Cup final this past weekend.

Celtic won the match to complete the domestic treble.

The Athletic have reported that Tottenham are close to appointing Australian boss Postecoglou as their new manager.

Ferguson wrote: “It looks like we’ll find out – one way or another – after the Scottish Cup final but one thing that’s annoying me already is the reaction I’ve seen from some Spurs fans who are actually campaigning for their club not to appoint Postecoglou.

“The level of arrogance, ignorance and disrespect that’s being shown is a disgrace. It’s typical of the kind of snobbery that the English show to the Scottish game. They look down their noses at us, even when the likes of John McGinn, Andy Robertson and Kieran Tierney are ripping it up in their own Premier League. It cracks me up.

“I saw it with my own eyes when I was down there at Blackburn and Birmingham and I couldn’t stand it then either.

“If any of these fans had actually bothered to take a look at what Postecoglou is all about – and what he could bring to their club – then they’d be thrilled at the thought of what he might be capable of with players like Harry Kane and Son Heung-min in his team.”

Tottenham Hotspur fans should be optimistic about Ange Postecoglou

In our view, Tottenham Hotspur fans should be very positive and confident about Celtic manager Ange Postecoglou.

Okay, so the Australian would be coming from the Scottish Premiership.

And we know that the Scottish Premiership title is not at the level of the Premier League.

Nowhere near.

However, it is still a very tough league.

Rangers won the Scottish Premiership title under then manager Steven Gerrard not so long ago.

And it is not easy for any team to win the treble in any domestic league.

Moreover, under Postecoglou, Celtic have played wonderful and exciting football.

The Hoops play attacking football and are hugely entertaining.

True, Celtic really could not make an impact in Europe under the Australian, but you have to consider that the Hoops were playing against elite teams with a much better financial situation.
