It has been reported that Napoli are ‘in talks’ to appoint Tottenham Hotspur manager target Luis Enrique.

This comes from Fabrizio Romano, after it was claimed on Thursday that Daniel Levy was keen on bringing the Spaniard on board, whilst being fearful of how demanding he is.

However, Tottenham Hotspur may now miss out on the chance of appointing Luis Enrique as Napoli are in search of a new manager.

With Luciano Spalletti having left the Italian club after leading them to a historic Serie A title, they are also in need of a brand-new coach.

Branding himself as the ‘best coach on the face of the Earth’ via Reuters, one cannot deny that Enrique is right up there amongst the absolute elite.

While one can understand why Tottenham were interested in appointing Luis Enrique as their manager, it has been claimed that Napoli indeed are ‘in talks’ with him.

It has also been mentioned that the negotiations are ‘ongoing.’ However, the club are aware that Enrique tops the list of several other sides looking for a man to take over the helm.

Tottenham seem to be the underdogs in every such race

Be it for a player or for a manager like Luis Enrique in this case, one seemingly fancies another club such as Napoli over Tottenham in most cases.

Considering Spurs lack a winning culture, may be forced to sell Harry Kane in the summer, are yet to replace Fabio Paratici and need a major squad overhaul, there are not many redeeming factors about the club.

Even recruitment wise, Napoli are way craftier and more ambitious than Tottenham.

The Premier League side are such a shambles from top to bottom that despite being a big name, one cannot foresee them being comfortable winners in the pursuit of any player or manager at this point.
