Chris Sutton has now suggested Celtic manager Ange Postecoglou to reject the Tottenham Hotspur job.

The former Hoops striker took to Twitter to make this recommendation to the 57-year-old, who is now on Spurs’ radar to take over the helm, as per a report on Thursday.

It was also revealed by Arne Slot, who seemed destined to make his way to the Premier League that he is set to sign a new deal at Feyenoord.

As Tottenham Hotspur would understandably aim to lure Ange Postecoglou to become their manager, Chris Sutton has advised him to simply say no.

In recent years, two top coaches in particular in Jose Mourinho and Antonio Conte have crashed and burned at the club, which has many believing that the job is a pit of a poisoned chalice.

Postecoglou is a hero at Celtic, winning back-to-back league titles and praised for his side’s entertaining style of play.

Mark Bosnich once said his fellow countryman is ‘best suited for Tottenham’, as quoted by the Scotsman.

Despite this perhaps being true, Chris Sutton has told Ange Postecoglou to remain as Celtic manager next season instead of joining Tottenham.

“I want Ange Postecoglou to stay at Celtic and have a crack at the Champions League next season and Tottenham Hotspur is clearly a downgrade/smaller club than Celtic but nobody can deny the fact that Ange will want a crack at the Premier League down south at some stage.”

Chris Sutton has a point

Not to suggest that Antonio Conte or Jose Mourinho were blameless during their stints as Tottenham manager but Chris Sutton is right in saying that Ange Postecoglou would be correct in not rushing to join them.

After all, the recruitment at Spurs is undeniably shoddy, Daniel Levy is far too frugal for his own good, there is no sporting director at the club, the squad lacks top quality and Harry Kane may leave in the summer.

Any manager that is appointed by the club is walking into a sea of problems.

With the foundations laid out at Celtic, why be tempted by Tottenham, who clearly lack any sort of direction in their project?
