Tottenham are now closing in on the appointment of Arne Slot – who is also a target for Crystal Palace.

According to Gianluca Di Marzio, the Dutchman has held positive talks with Spurs, and his move to north London is progressing nicely as Crystal Palace prepare to miss out.

However, Feyenoord are still trying to keep Arne Slot away from Tottenham and Crystal Palace.

What’s the story?

Well, it was The Times who claimed that Crystal Palace would like Slot to replace Roy Hodgson.

However, the 44-year-old, who has won 98 games throughout his managerial career, now looks set to join Tottenham.

Sky Sports have added that Feyenoord are now “resigned” to losing Slot to Spurs after he guided them to their first Eredivisie title in 18 years, although they have offered to double his salary in an attempt to keep him.

The aforementioned story from The Times also mentioned that West Ham are interested in Slot, but it remains to be seen what happens with David Moyes after he guided the east Londoners to the UEFA Europa Conference League final.

Crystal Palace’s alternatives to Slot as Tottenham move nears

As Spurs close in on a move for Slot – who has been compared to Pep Guardiola – there have already been a few alternatives mentioned for Crystal Palace.

The Daily Mail believe Adi Hütter, Steve Cooper and Kieran McKenna are among the options for the south Londoners, although Hodgson could even end up staying.

A story from the Guardian claimed that Crystal Palace could keep the 75-year-old for one more season before handing the reins to Paddy McCarthy.

The Irishman – who once captained the Eagles – has been working as part of Hodgson’s staff this season after managing both the Under-18 and Under-21 side at Selhurst Park.

Whatever happens, it seems Slot will not be arriving at Crystal Palace as a move to Tottenham nears.
