Roy Keane has backed Liverpool transfer target and Brighton midfielder, Moises Caicedo, to secure a summer transfer to Mikel Arteta’s Arsenal.

The Premier League legend added that Moises Caicedo is a ‘powerful’ player and someone that would be a ‘good investment’ for Arsenal, as he told Sky Sports Premier League (14/05/23 at 4:15 pm).

Back in January, Arsenal tried their best to lure the defensive-minded midfielder towards their direction – it was his ‘dream’ move, according to his agent.

At the time, the Gunners were sitting clear at the top of the table and many were starting to believe that they were going to become champions of England for the first time in nearly two decades.

But, fast forward to the weekend, and Caicedo put in a stellar performance as his Brighton side wiped the floor with the north London club and pushed Manchester City one step closer to Premier League title glory.

Nonetheless, even though Caicedo penned a new deal at the Amex Stadium, Keane can still see the midfielder heading for the exit door.

“You can see why they would be interested in him,” said Keane. “He’s a strong and powerful boy. He’s at a good age, at 21.

“He has adapted to the Premier League very well – there is no surprise they are interested. Of course, they tried to get him in January. Signed a new deal, but I am sure he has got plenty of clauses.

“If Arsenal are keen on him, then they would have to pay big money for him – ideally, at the age he is at, he is a good investment for Arsenal.”

LIVERPOOL’S INTEREST IN CAICEDO

Arsenal might want to upgrade their midfield, but perhaps not to the extent of Liverpool, who despite their recent form, have shot themselves in the foot this season.

Even though they are on a seven-match winning run, it could be nine by the time the season is up, and they could still miss out on a Champions League place.

Their struggles in midfield have played a part in that, so they are expected to enhance that part of the pitch in the summer, with Caicedo seen as a Jude Bellingham alternative for the Merseyside club.
