It has been reported that Borussia Dortmund are now plotting a transfer for Liverpool target Conor Gallagher.

A claim was made last Monday that even Tottenham Hotspur were interested in signing the 23-year-old ahead of next season.

As Liverpool assess how to get a transfer for Conor Gallagher over the line, it seems like Borussia Dortmund have emerged as yet another competitor.

Borussia Dortmund shortlist Conor Gallagher

At the start of April, it was even claimed that Jurgen Klopp personally wanted the Chelsea midfielder to play his football at Anfield in the following campaign.

The Reds are in desperate need of a revamp in the middle of the park.

The likes of James Milner and Jordan Henderson are ageing, Thiago finds it impossible to stay fit and Fabinho looks the furthest thing from what made him one of the best No.6’s in the world.

The trouble for Liverpool in their transfer pursuit, as per Sky journalist Florian Pletteburg is that Conor Gallagher is ‘on the list’ of Borussia Dortmund.

The England international’s valuation is £45.2 million but currently, the talks have not reached an advanced stage and are believed not to have been ‘concrete’, with his future at Chelsea labelled as ‘open.’

HITC View: Liverpool could still win the transfer battle for Gallagher

The advantage that the Germans have is that they are favourites to win the Bundesliga and offer the much-maligned player a chance to leave the country in search of a new beginning.

However, Liverpool could beat Dortmund in this transfer tug-of-war by convincing Conor Gallagher that he could be one of the faces of their rebuild.

The Merseyside-based club have won it all under Jurgen Klopp’s tenure and have stayed at the absolute top of the game, barring an ugly fall from grace this season.

Persuading the player with a plan to return back to where they were could be the deciding factor in the negotiations.
