Tottenham Hotspur have joined the race to sign Chelsea midfielder Conor Gallagher at the end of the season.

That’s according to a new report from 90Min, who claim that Spurs are one of the club ‘keeping an eye on Gallagher’.

It’s stated that Liverpool, Newcastle United, Crystal Palace and Leicester City are all watching Gallagher’s situation.

The report suggests that Gallagher is delaying a final decision on his future until Chelsea appoint a new manager.

Graham Potter has gone and Chelsea are targeting a replacement with Luis Enrique and Julian Nagelsmann wanted.

Gallagher – hailed as ‘fantastic’ by Potter – wants talks with the next Chelsea boss as he seeks assurances over his playing time.

Gallagher allegedly believes that he can play an important role for Chelsea moving forward but wants to know the new boss shares that vision.

The 23-year-old still has two years left on his contract but Chelsea don’t want players entering that time frame on their deals.

That means a summer exit does seem like a possibility and the interested clubs – such as Tottenham – are left waiting.

Conor Gallagher to Tottenham seems unlikely

We can totally understand why Tottenham may fancy signing Gallagher.

Spurs could do with adding a goal threat or two from midfield and Gallagher has proven himself in that role over the years.

Gallagher is full of energy and still has bags of potential at just 23; the kind of age profile Tottenham should be targeting.

Tottenham and Chelsea are hardly the best of pals though and transfers between the two clubs just don’t seem likely any time soon.

You also have to add in the status of Tottenham’s director of football Fabio Paratici.

The Italian isn’t able to carry out his job at the moment having been hit with a worldwide ban by FIFA.

Paratici’s appeal will be heard this week and until there is a definitive answer on his future, it’s hard to see Spurs really pushing forward with any summer moves.
