Tim Sherwood thinks Tottenham Hotspur will sign Brentford striker Ivan Toney during the summer transfer window after he scored Premier League goal number 17 on Saturday.
Thomas Frank’s overachieving side recorded an entertaining 3-3 draw with Brighton and Ivan Toney made sure to get his name on the scoresheet again.
Former Chelsea defender Gary Cahill described the England international as a ‘big, big player’ and someone who is also a character in the dressing room.

It has been a fruitful week for the 27-year-old because, last Sunday, he earned his long-awaited first cap for England when he replaced Harry Kane during his side’s win over Ukraine – Chelsea’s Ben Chilwell spoke highly about Toney.
It was a deserved call for the Brentford hitman because, outside of Kane, he has probably been the best English striker in the Premier League this season, in fact, he has been.
Before earning praise from Gary Cahill, the thriving striker was also lauded by Tim Sherwood and how ‘everyone will try to get him’, as he told MatchDay Extra on Premier League Productions (01/04/23 at 8:35 pm).
Gary Cahill on Toney: “He has most of the attributes that you need to be a top striker, so he would be a handful. He seems as well like he is a big character in that dressing room. A big, big player for Brentford.”
Sherwood added: “They will do well to keep hold of Toney. Everyone will come in to try and get him. I think Tottenham will look to get him.”

COULD TONEY REPLACE KANE?
Other than losing Harry Kane during the summer transfer window, which is likely because Manchester United are keen on the England captain.
There’s no reason for Toney to join Spurs because he will play second fiddle to his fellow countryman, just like he is doing on the international stage.
Is the former Newcastle man deserving of a step up to a team in Europe? Absolutely. But he has to maintain those starts, or else, come Euro 2024, he will be staying at home and not going to a tournament England will be expected to win.
