Fabio Paratici has changed one rule at Tottenham which could have a negative impact on the Under-21 prospects in N17.
What’s the story?
Well, the Italian has just been banned from global football operations for 30 months after being found guilty of false accounting during his time at Juventus.
Amid that significant story, a detailed analysis of Paratici‘s time at Spurs has been written up by Alasdair Gold of Football London.
Within Gold’s story, it is said that Daniel Levy has handed the 50-year-old a huge amount of power at Spurs, with Tottenham’s Director of Football believed to have changed one rule in the development side regarding pay structure.
John McDermott – who left his role as the head of Tottenham’s academy in 2020 – was against pay rises for those in the youth ranks, as he wanted to keep them hungry to improve.

However, Paratici is said to have ignored that, and decided to increase salaries for those in the development squad.
Now, we aren’t saying that Paratici is solely to blame, but it is telling that hardly any players have broken into the first-team from the academy since he arrived in north London.
Conte & Paratici did not help Tottenham’s next generation
The double act of Antonio Conte and Fabio Paratici did not help Tottenham’s youth whatsoever.
Football London mention that Conte had little interest in using academy players, and had a strong preference for experienced options such as Ivan Perisic.
Not only that, but the Italian would also often drag some youngsters away from their Under-21 sessions at the last minute – as well as official matches – in order for them to merely act as statuesque dummies in his first-team training drills.
Clearly, Conte had no interest whatsoever in bridging the academy to the first-team, with Football London adding that some staff felt the gap between both had never been wider.
Hopefully, with the 53-year-old now gone, Spurs fans will start to see a few more of their own break through.
