Fabrizio Romano has said that clubs were keeping an eye on the contract situation of Arsenal poster-child Bukayo Saka, with their intention of an ambitious summer transfer.

However, it does not come as a shock that Romano has revealed that the 21-year-old is keen on signing a new deal at his boyhood club.

But it seems as if the suitors were hoping and praying that Bukayo Saka rejects a new contract at Arsenal and gets his head turned by a potential transfer.

Fabrizio Romano delivers Bukayo Saka transfer news amid contract update

The prolific winger, branded as a ‘wonderfully gifted footballer’ by Gary Lineker recently has been seemingly prepared to commit his future at the Emirates Stadium for a while now.

Just less than a week ago, it was reported that all the paperwork was signed and all that was left was confirmation about Saka’s commitment to Mikel Arteta’s side.

But as the contract situation surrounding Bukayo Saka has taken it’s fair share of time, Fabrizio Romano revealed that clubs were keeping tabs on the chances of a potential transfer opportunity.

“Arsenal star Bukayo Saka will sign his new contract very soon, no changes in the plan as verbal agreement is in place since February.”

“Three clubs [two from England and one from abroad] were monitoring Saka’s contract situation since long time but no way: he’s staying.”

The Arsenal project is too good to turn down

Bukayo Saka, more than most is aware of the plans in place at Arsenal and how they have manifested this season, which is why he seemingly declined any transfer to sign a long-term contract instead.

While the youngster’s current deal was due to expire in 2024, the impression one gets is Saka was never intending on an exit, not only because of his love for the club but how incredible the project is.

With the chance of winning the Premier League this campaign without even stepping foot in the Champions League and so many doors that are set to open for this side in years to come, it’s only right that an exit was never on his mind.
