Everton and Leeds United are monitoring Coventry City striker Viktor Gyokeres in view of a transfer in the summer. His Championship club are also braced for bids as his suitors grow.
That is according to 90min, which reports the Sky Blues expect an array of Premier League teams to target Gyokeres. Only Chuba Akpom has scored more often than the 24-year-old in the second-tier so far this season. The Swede is also only under contract until June 2024.
Coventry likely require promotion to the Premier League to convince Gyokeres to overlook any transfer with Everton and Leeds interested. The Sky Blues are eighth in the table, three points from the play-off spots, after 38 games. They last finished as high as eighth in 2006.

Everton and Leeds are among the Premier League clubs keen to sign Gyokeres
Leeds had explored making Coventry an offer to beat Everton to Gyokeres’ transfer during the January market, per TEAMtalk. The Whites were ready to pay £14m but faced an £18m asking price. While Dean Jones also reports the Elland Road natives remain admirers of his.
Brentford, Crystal Palace and Leicester City are also scouting Gyokeres in view of a move in the off-season. The 12-cap international has a number of top-flight teams exploring swoops having scored 18 goals in 38 games this term. He also has eight assists in the second-tier.
The teams competing with Coventry for promotion are also likely to target the 6 ft 1 star if the Sky Blues miss out on a top-flight berth. But Coventry Building Society Arena chiefs will want at least £20m to sell their attacker. They have increased their price tag from January.

Coventry have increased their asking price for the striker’s transfer this summer
Crystal Palace and Everton showing interest in Gyokeres’ transfer from Coventry makes a lot of sense. No Premier League team has scored fewer goals than the Eagles and Toffees this season. Wolves and Nottingham Forest have, likewise, only scored 22 goals this term.
Leeds have produced a slightly more respectable haul of 35 goals while Leicester have 38 and Brentford have 43. But Gyokeres, who Darren Bent calls ‘class’ and tips to play in the Premier League next season, could add a vital new dimension to the teams targeting him.
Coventry boss Mark Robins also calls Gyokeres ‘unbelievable’ given his goal threat in the Championship this season. But Everton, Leeds and Leicester might have to show him that they will not be in a relegation battle again next term to convince Gyokeres of any transfer.
