Tanguy Ndombele is ‘willing’ to stay at Napoli but the Serie A leaders do not want to pay the £25 million fee Tottenham Hotspur are demanding for the Premier League’s forgotten man, according to Area Napoli.
While no conversation about Napoli’s remarkable season is complete without mention of Victor Osimhen and Khvicha Kvaratskhelia, do not underestimate the importance of Luciano Spalletti’s supporting cast.
Gianluca Raspadori and Gio Simeone offer high-quality depth at centre-forward; ensuring the standards remain sky-high. Stanislav Lobotka, Kim Min-Jae and Giovanni di Lorenzo are in the form of their lives. And, after a sluggish start, Ndombele is starting to make his mark too; the France international scoring his first Serie A goal during Sunday’s 4-0 thrashing of Torino.

Tottenham’s Tanguy Ndombele could stay at Serie A leaders Napoli
“Ndombele is a strong player,” Spalletti told TuttoMercatoWEB after Napoli extended their lead to a colossal 19 points over second-place Lazio. “At the beginning, I didn’t know him much. There was the doubt (about) why Tottenham had let him leave.
“He’s someone I train willingly. He’s also a very sweet boy. (Ndombele is) physically strong, which is important. He has strength, an engine, technique. I like him.”
Ndombele, Area Napoli report, is reciprocating that admiration. Tottenham’s £63 million misfit is ‘willing’ to stay, presuming the Partenopei can agree on a permanent deal.
There is a £25 million option-to-buy clause in Ndombele’s contract. In an ideal world, Napoli would like to pay a smaller fee, given that Ndombele has not yet established himself as a regular starter under Spalletti.
Sporting director Cristiano Giuntoli, the report adds, may also enquire about an extension of his loan contract.
Ndombele has not featured for Spurs since an FA Cup meeting with Morecambe in January 2022. It is not certain, at this stage, what the departure of Antonio Conte means for his future.
Conte, The Telegraph say, could be sacked by Daniel Levy this week. Roberto de Zerbi, Thomas Frank, Thomas Tuchel and Mauricio Pochettino are among those tipped to take over.
