Liverpool and Newcastle United have now learned the price tag that Napoli will want for the transfer of Piotr Zielinski. The Reds and Toon are set to target the midfielder in the summer.
Premier League clubs are paying close attention to Zielinski with the 28-year-old set to enter the final year of his contract. The Azzurri last awarded the Poland international new terms in August 2020 after four years at the club. But the Serie A side may now have to offload him.
Zielinski remains a vital presence under boss Luciano Spalletti at the Stadio Diego Armando Maradona. The 89-cap technician has started 20 of his 26 Serie A appearances this season so far. He has featured in all of the Azzurri’s games as the Naples club bids for the Scudetto.

Liverpool and Newcastle are targeting the transfer of Napoli star Zielinski
Spalletti has also started Zielinski in six of his eight appearances in the Champions League as Napoli made the quarter-finals. The midfielder helped the Azzurri into the final eight with his seventh goal of the season across all competitions as they beat Eintracht Frankfurt 5-0.
Zielinski has also offered nine assists, with seven in Serie A, to see Liverpool and Newcastle now target the Napoli star’s transfer. Rudy Galetti reports that Jurgen Klopp sees the 5 ft 10 star as an alternative for Jude Bellingham. But he is just one of the options on their shortlist.
Meanwhile, CalcioMercatoWeb reports Inter Milan may back out of the race with Newcastle also targeting Zielinski’s transfer from Napoli. The Nerazzurri cannot afford to face a bidding war. While the midfielder is still weighing up staying in Serie A or taking on a new challenge.

Napoli now set their price tag to sell the Poland midfielder this summer
Now, Calciomercato reports that Napoli have set their price tag for Zielinski at around €40m (£35m) amid Liverpool and Newcastle targeting the midfielder’s transfer. The Azzurri accept they will not be able to demand any more than that with his contract due to expire in 2024.
Napoli will target around €40m (£35m) after rejecting a bid from West Ham United worth that last summer. The Azzurri have also moved to offer the Poland dynamo, who Inter Milan icon Giuseppe Bergomi calls ‘outstanding’, a new contract. Yet he is unlikely to accept their deal.
Zielinski must accept a pay cut to get a new deal with the Stadio Diego Armando Maradona outfit. President Aurelio de Laurentiis has asked the midfielder to lower his €3.5m-a-season (£59k-a/w) net salary. Yet he will refuse a pay cut and Napoli do not want him to go for free.
