Crystal Palace are now targeting the transfer of Celtic star Kyogo Furuhashi and have a bid ready. Even though the Premier League side sacked their manager Patrick Vieira on Friday.

That is according to Calciomercato, which reports that Crystal Palace are now planning to target Furuhashi this summer. The Eagles appreciate what the 28-year-old could deliver in the English top-flight next term. So, they are putting plans in place to back their next boss.

Chairman Steve Parish sacked Vieira after 20 months in charge with Crystal Palace winless in their last 12 games. The Selhurst Park side last won a match in any competition on New Year’s Eve. They have also only scored five goals in 2023 and none in their last four games.

Crystal Palace are ready to target Furuhashi’s transfer from Celtic

Wilfried Zaha is the south London side’s top scorer so far this season with six goals from 23 appearances. Former Celtic ace Odsonne Edouard, meanwhile, is Crystal Palace’s second-best threat on five in 26 games. He left Parkhead after four years in 2021 for up to £18.5m.

The Eagles are likely to target new strikers this summer, though, with Zaha out of contract this June. So, to support whoever replaces Vieira at the helm, Crystal Palace have readied a £20m bid for Furuhashi’s transfer from Celtic. It would represent vast profit for the Bhoys.

Furuhashi could now follow the man he replaced in Edouard to Selhurst Park

Celtic signed Furuhashi from Vissel Kobe in July 2021 for £4.5m in Ange Postecoglou’s first window in charge. The 16-cap Japan star has since offered 46 goals and 10 assists over 71 games across all competitions. He has also hit 26 and created five in 38 games this season.

Furuhashi is regularly sensational at Celtic, with Postecoglou even admitting the Hoops left him ‘frustrated’ after failing to utilise the ‘unbelievable’ striker’s runs against Hearts earlier this month. Yet the attacker still ended the match with a goal and an assist in a 3-1 victory.

Now, what Furuhashi has shown after replacing Edouard as Celtic’s main striker could seal him a transfer to Crystal Palace. The Ikoma, Nara native will still have two years remaining on his contract this summer, though. Edouard had entered the final 12 months of his deal.
