Ange Postecoglou admits he is ‘a bit frustrated’ with how Celtic did not take full advantage of Kyogo Furuhashi at home to Hearts. Even despite his goal and assist during the 3-1 win.

Celtic maintained their nine-point lead atop the Premiership table after 28 matches with a come-from-behind result on Wednesday. Josh Ginnelly stunned Parkhead after six minutes when the midfielder beat Joe Hart. He headed Andy Halliday’s cross to break the deadlock.

Daizen Maeda (25’) would draw the Hoops level midway through the opening period after Liel Abada and Furuhashi spurned openings. The forward slid the ball home from his fellow Japan attacker’s cross. Anthony Ralston played Furuhashi in with his defence-splitting pass.

Kyogo Furuhashi helped inspire Celtic to a come-from-behind win over Hearts

Furuhashi (60’) would then get his goal and give Celtic the lead at home to Hearts. The 28-year-old struck his 20th strike in 26 Premiership games so far this season to reach 25 in all competitions. He riffled Aaron Mooy’s pass beyond Zander Clark to break Hearts’ defiance.

Sead Haksabanovic (84’) would eventually secure the result as the substitute curled home high into Clark’s net. Jota, after replacing Maeda due to injury, and Ralston had gone close for Celtic before Furuhashi took advantage of Hearts’ high-pressing taking its toll for a goal.

The Hoops frustrated Ange Postecoglou with how they failed to take full advantage

Yet Celtic ‘frustrated’ Postecoglou with how the Hoops did not take full advantage of what Furuhashi offers against Hearts. The Bhoys boss felt the Glasgow side could have rewarded the 16-cap international more often during the 3-1 come-from-behind win on Wednesday.

“He’s been unbelievable for this club,” Postecoglou told BBC Sportsound. “We didn’t use him well tonight, I was a bit frustrated with us not rewarding his runs. But when we did find him, we set up the first goal and [he] scored the second.”

Furuhashi has 25 goals in 37 appearances for Celtic across all competitions so far this term after scoring against Hearts. He also reached five assists by creating Maeda’s equaliser and headed an effort over whilst 1-0 down. Yet Postecoglou still felt more was on offer for him.
