Jermaine Jenas has criticised Liverpool legend Mohamed Salah for his penalty miss against Bournemouth as his side were beaten 1-0 on Saturday.

Off the back of the Egyptian forward’s stunning brace against Manchester United by the likes of Darwin Nunez, Steven Gerrard, Patrice Evra and Roy Keane, he fluffed his lines against Gary O’Neil’s men.

Keeping that in mind, Jermaine Jenas was rightfully critical of Mohamed Salah after he missed a penalty for Liverpool in their defeat against Bournemouth.

Considering the former Roma winger has never managed to get a spot-kick off target, it was a shock to see him blast the ball completely wide off the goal in his attempt to stick it into the top corner.

Speaking on BT Sport, as relayed by BBC Sport, Jermaine Jenas has slated Mohamed Salah for his horrific penalty for Liverpool against Bournemouth.

“Wow. He’s trying to put this one right in the top corner and he’s got it horribly wrong.”

After becoming the Reds’ all-time top goalscorer in the Premier League against Erik ten Hag’s side after surpassing Robbie Fowler’s record, he has unfortunately come back down to earth less than a week later.

Mohamed Salah is only human

Sure, Liverpool superstar Mohamed Salah was rightly slated by Jermaine Jenas, as his penalty against Bournemouth was simply poor.

However, the £34 million (Sky Sports) man has been an elite player for over half a decade and from time to time, he can be naturally expected to be far from his best and in a rare moment of imperfection, that was exactly what was on show.

The conversation should actually be centred around how the visitors’ all-round displays continue to decline and it seems as if only a dream transfer window could perhaps save them from their sad decline.
