How many times has Bukayo Saka put Arsenal ahead this season? Some fans have been asking as the 21-year-old did it again on Wednesday.

The Arsenal No.7 rifled a powerful shot beyond Jordan Pickford to put the Gunners 1-0 up against Everton, as the north Londoners went five points clear at the top of the Premier League thanks to their eventual 4-0 win.

It seems as if Saka always steps up when Arsenal need him most, but how many times has the England international actually put the Gunners ahead this season? Let’s take a look…

How many times has Saka put Arsenal ahead?

Well, it is quite remarkable how often Saka produces the goods for Arsenal.

It is hard to believe he is just 21 years of age.

After 33 games in the 2022/23 campaign so far, Saka has given Arsenal the lead on seven occasions.

That is quite incredible when you consider the fact the Hale End graduate has scored 11 goals in all competitions.

Even more admirably, Saka’s four goals which haven’t put Arsenal ahead of their opponent have been equalising strikes – he is a clutch footballer in every sense of the word.

That is a phenomenal record this season, and it is safe to say that Arsenal wouldn’t be five points clear at the top of the Premier League without their starboy stepping up like he has.

We haven’t even mentioned the fact that Saka has also provided nine assists this season as well.

To have 20 goal involvements in just 33 appearances is a record to be proud of – to say the least.

After Wednesday’s 4-0 win over Everton, Saka has now become the sixth-youngest player in Premier League history to record 50 goal involvements, according to Opta.

Only Michael Owen, Wayne Rooney, Robbie Fowler, Cesc Fàbregas and Chris Sutton have reached that tally at a younger age.

If Saka does win the Premier League title this season, it will be more than deserved – he has been a huge player for Mikel Arteta.
