Arsenal are said to be interested in signing Raheem Sterling as Mikel Arteta eyes a reunion with the England international.
The Gunners – according to 90min – are keen to sign the £50m man after taking Jorginho from Chelsea, with Arteta looking to add more experience to his young squad.
Sterling has already worked with the Spaniard at Manchester City, and he has previously spoken glowingly about the 40-year-old.
What’s the story?
Well, Sterling worked with Arteta from 2016 to 2019 when the Spaniard acted as No.2 to Pep Guardiola.
The 28-year-old was not surprised to see the San Sebastián-born tactician enjoy a strong start to life in charge of Arsenal, showering him in praise after he guided the Gunners to the FA Cup in 2020.

As quoted by the Daily Mail, Sterling said: “He’s a person that had a lot of say here. The manager trusted him and he had a lot of influence on the players and the team as well.
“I knew once he went into Arsenal that it would be a great opportunity for him but also he would definitely implement what he wanted to bring in.
“He’s a person that will put his foot down and not let things slide as you can see with the boys at Arsenal. They know if they don’t run they are most likely not going to play.
“We all knew before Mikel got in how much good football they could play, how technically good they were but probably off the field they weren’t as aggressive as they are with Mikel. They run their socks off now.”
Clearly, Sterling thinks very highly of Arteta, and with things going far from smoothly at Chelsea, a reunion at the Emirates Stadium this summer certainly wouldn’t surprise us.
Raheem Sterling would thrive at Arsenal
In our view, Sterling would be a superb signing for Arsenal – just like Gabriel Jesus and Oleksandr Zinchenko have turned out to be.
The Chelsea No.17 is aware of what is required to play under someone as demanding as Arteta, and his experience at the highest level would surely prove beneficial for the likes of Gabriel Martinelli and Bukayo Saka.
Sterling has impressively scored 113 goals in 338 Premier League appearances, winning four Premier League titles as he shows he can operate out wide or also in the centre.
If Arsenal do manage to lure him away from Chelsea like they did with Jorginho, it could prove to be a fantastic addition.
