Speaking on his YouTube channel, Fabrizio Romano has given an update on some of Liverpool’s transfer plans and Josko Gvardiol.
To say that the Reds aren’t having a good season would be an understatement. They’re eighth in the Premier League and have just been embarrassed in the Champions League by Real Madrid.
The midfield needs major surgery, and they could also do with a new defender too.
Luckily, according to Romano, the Reds do have their eyes on a top-class centre-back in the shape of Josko Gvardiol.

Liverpool monitoring Gvardiol
The journalist shared what he knows about this situation.
“Keep an eye on defensive players, keep an eye also on Josko Gvardiol. Many top clubs are monitoring him including Chelsea, they wanted him last summer, also Manchester City and also Liverpool are monitoring the player, there is a lot of interest around Gvardiol. Leipzig want him to be the most expensive centre-back ever, Liverpool have sent their scouts to watch the player multiple times in the last months,” Romano said.
Get it done
This would be a very expensive signing for the Reds, but it would be a worthwhile one to say the least.
At the age of just 21, Gvardiol is already one of Europe’s best defenders and he has so much room to improve as well.
It would be a costly deal, but it may not be too difficult to get this one done. After all, Gvardiol did recently state that the Reds are his dream club to play for, so it’s clear that he wants a move.
It may be difficult to tempt a player like Gvardiol to join a club that is struggling at the moment, especially with the likes of Manchester City circling, but given the Croatian’s past comments, one has to imagine that a deal is possible.
